Change Password Configuration Information Could Not Be Read From the Domain Controller
My windows x laptop is connected to a domain network and I take information technology home with me every night. We have countersign decease policies, a message pops up to say that my password will expire in 4 days . I've tried going CTRL + ALT + DEL and selecting 'Change Password' simply when i go to click 'change password' after typing in my onetime countersign and a new one, it comes upward with the following bulletin: " Configuration information could non exist read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied ". Have requested my company'south sysadmin to reset countersign many times, but it fails to alter the situation. Kindly help.

Have you tried irresolute your countersign while on site and continued to the company network?
When you lot are connected at abode to your home WiFi/network i presume that are y'all using a VPN to connect to your company network and non staying on your home network to exercise this?
Config information could not be read from the domain controller means the machine is unable to talk to it normally
Edited Dec twenty, 2019 at 15:32 UTCAlter it on site or connect to the VPN beginning then change it. At home, your computer is not able to communicate with Agile Directory unless information technology is connected through a VPN.
Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your reply. But I am trying to alter the password while connected to the company'south on-site network.
Hullo Finn,
Cheers for your reply.Yep I am trying to exercise exactly that simply unfortunately, without any success.
Did you ever get this problem resolved?
Unfortunately non. Although Finn, if I tried to re-create the same org domain in another auto, it just worked fine on that.Maybe deleting my user domain from the Ad server and adding a new one from scratch will fix this(co-ordinate to sysadmin). Don't know.
Endeavour THIS. WORKED FOR ME!!
I got this problem to go away past doing these iii steps on the remote server
1. disable NLA (Network level Authenticator)
2. Registry editor (Win R) regedit.exe browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Command\Final Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp
Find Securitylayer Change the default value to 0
3. last only non least. "Local Security Policy" under local policies\security options browse till y'all find "Network Admission: Restrict clients Allowed to make remote calls to SAM
select "Edit security"
Administrators is at that place equally default.. but not defined!.... my user accounts that remote in to this server are admins and then i leave "Administrators" in "group or user names" as default. Remote access is ready to let then click "OK"
The "Security descriptor" should then populate upon clicking ok if a user is added correctly.
Select ok to close window you tin can shut all windows. The user should and then exist able to change their password without any issues.
*** if they still can non change their password and receive the same error. Edit the username every bit Computername/username
I would remove the calculator from AD and so add the figurer back once more to Domain.
I agree with Spicehead. Remove the computer from the domain and and then re-join information technology. Just a FYI for anyone else:
My users take this upshot when they are using a VMware virtual desktop. They have to printing command+alt+insert to get the change countersign screen. Pressing control+alt+del gives them the device's password screen but the device is not talking to the network when using a VMware view horizon customer. The client creates a VPN and then the password has to be reset from the virtual desktop.
I had the aforementioned problem. The client continued to our server via vpn was getting this mistake when trying to log in as a local user. I looked through event viewer and noticed that this user was trying to log in with correct credentials but the account domain was wrong for some reason. The trouble was solved by adding "computer_name\" earlier account proper noun when inbound credentials. Hope this tin can assistance someone.
